Photograph shows partially identified soldier. Joseph N. and William R. Tibbetts served in Co. D, 43rd Massachusetts Infantry Regiment from 1862 to 1863. There was a John G. Tibbetts, whose name is inscribed on the verso, in the 5th Rhode Island Heavy Artillery Regiment and another John G. Tibbetts in the 1st Maine Heavy Artillery Regiment.
