Inscription on back of plate: Received from Mrs. Houdini, Dec. 15, [19]27. Manuscript letter from Mrs. Houdini mounted on verso.
Accompanied by manuscript letter dated Dec. 13th, 1927 from Beatrice Houdini to Ruthven Deane. Letter reads: Dear Mr. Ruthven Deane, in answer to yours I'm enclosing the book plate of Houdini - he had quite a collection of rare old plates but in moving and disposing of his library, they were either hidden away some where or perhaps given to some collector. However, should they be found amongst his things here I will gladly send them to you for your own. Most Sincerely yours, Beatrice Houdini. Dec. 13 '27.
