Summary: Photographs show balloons of Henri Lachambre and Louis Godard at the Trocadero, Paris, dated 1890; airship Debayeux, 1884; and inflation of the balloon Santa Maria de Belem in Brazil, among others. Several images depict the Tissandier brothers preparing for tests of their electric powered airship from their workshop at Auteuil, Paris, France, October 1883. Aerial photographs of Paris and surrounding cities taken from tethered and free balloons, including images by Jacques Ducom and Gaston Tissandier, Alphonse Liébert, and Paul Desmarets. Miscellaneous subjects include plates with balloon motifs and other objects related to ballooning collected by the Tissandiers; a model of the sculpture 'La defense de Paris' by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi; tomb of ballonists Joseph Crocé-Spinelli and Henri Sivel, killed in crash of the balloon Zenith in 1875; a few interiors of the Lachambre balloon factory, Vaugirard, Paris, showing toy balloons and other products; one portrait of Gaston Tissandier reading in his study.
