Sherwood, Democrat of Ohio Eighty five years of age who enlisted in the U.S.A. in 1861 as a private, fought in 43 battles, Mentioned 10 times in general orders for gallant conduct and mustered out a Brig. General. General Chas Manley Stedman on the Right, Democrat of North Carolina, Seventy nine years of age. Enlisted in the Confederate Army at the beginning of the war, was three times wounded and held the rank of Brig. General at the close of the war.
