Once over this obstacle,it looks like fair going,1920,Warren Harding,Cartoon

Title: Once over this obstacle and it looks like fair going
Creator(s): Berryman, Clifford Kennedy, 1869-1949, artist
Date Created/Published: 1921 March.
Summary: Cartoon shows President Elect Warren G. Harding as a perspiring golfer standing in a sand trap labeled 'Cabinet Bunker.' Harding spent much of his time between his election in November 1920 and his inauguration in March selecting his new cabinet. He promised to pick 'the best minds' and some, including Charles Evans Hughes, Herbert Hoover, Henry C. Wallace, and Andrew Mellon were outstanding. Others such as Harry M. Daugherty as Attorney General and Albert B. Fall as Secretary of the Interior mired the Harding Administration in scandal. Harding was an avid golfer, playing almost twice a week during his presidential years.
